Toledo's Best Winter Activities
My favorite thing about the cold weather is hockey season! I love to make my way downtown for dinner and then go support our Toledo Walleye. There's so much to do in our local community, why not get out and explore? Here are 5 things to do in Toledo this Winter!
Head downtown to watch our amazing Toledo Walleye play all throughout winter. With many new restaurants and updates downtown, heading to a Toledo hockey game makes a great date night or night out with the family.
Each Saturday in January and February, the Toledo Zoo has planned unique zoo experiences, crafts, games and more! Pick a snowy day and enjoy watching the polar bears frolic outside in their favorite weather!
The following metro parks have great sledding hills: Side Cut, Pearson, and Blue Creek. Side Cut and Pearson have nighttime lights and are open until 8pm. Blue Creek offers daylight sledding only.
Oak Openings has a 4 mile trail reserved specifically for skiing. You may also like the 4.8 mile trail at Secor Metropark. Keep in mind that any trail in the metropark can be used for skiing, however the staff tries to keep all purpose trails clear for walkers, runners and cyclists.
Outdoor ice skating is offered at Pearson Park, Oak Openings Preserve and Ottawa Park. For the frigid days, when you’d rather skate inside, you can check the schedules at Tam-O-Shanter and Ice House for open skate times.
I send out a list of fun, upcoming events in the Toledo area each week! To get this list emailed to you, join us here: bit.ly/TOLevents
