Best Bakeries in Toledo, Ohio

With the holiday season here and this year being one of the shortest shopping seasons, it’s good to know the right places to swing by and pick up your sweet treats for your holiday parties!  This is also the perfect time of year to buy a sweet treat for someone, just because.  I love all of these bakeries for different reasons.  Keep reading and I hope you go out and try one (or all) of these places.

Eston’s Bakery

Eston’s has been a favorite in our family for quite some time now.  My wedding cake was from here as well, so I may be biased, but their cakes are classic and beautiful.  We chose the lemon berry for our wedding and everyone loved it. I love the simplicity of their designs and their flavors are delicious without being too overpowering.  Eston’s offers cakes, cupcakes, cheesecake and cheesecake cupcakes!  I suggest getting a dozen of the mini cupcakes.  It’s just the right portion!

Bakery Unlimited

So you’re rushing to the next holiday party and you forgot to make anything to bring.  Stop into Bakery Unlimited, because they’re bound to have what you need.  They make beautiful cookies, cakes, cupcakes, donuts, breads and many other desserts depending on the day.  This has been a favorite of my family’s because they’re the only place that makes Toledo’s famous, classic, Hinkle’s bear claws.  If you’ve never tried them, I highly recommend you do!

Wixey Bakery

There’s no way we can talk about Toledo bakeries without Wixey. They have been in Toledo for over 80 years!  To this day, they use the same great recipes and offer cakes, donuts and other baked goods.  This is another very popular place for wedding cakes!  I love their bakery because when you walk in, it feels so welcoming and you can tell the family is proud of the sweet treats they provide to our community.

Thrush’s Bakery

I’ve talked about this place before, but I have to mention them again.  Thrush’s makes such beautifully decorated desserts and they’re a sure party pleaser.  They’ve got cakes, pies, donuts, cookies and more. I like to stop into their location at The Baker’s Kitchen, grab a cookie from the bakery and shop around The Baker’s Kitchen.  Thrush’s takes pride in their designs and it shows! Follow them on Facebook for drool-worthy posts.

Earth to Oven

If you’re like me, you like to know what’s actually IN the food you’re eating.  Earth to Oven feels the same way and that’s what I love about them.  They’re committed to only using fresh ingredients that you can pronounce.  They now have a storefront that offers lunch foods and catering along side all their delicious baked goods.  If you’re a health food nut like me, this is a must try!

Holey Toledough

Do I even need to tell you about these guys? If you live in Toledo and you don’t know about Holey Toledough, you need to climb out from under that rock right now and go get a donut from them!  After a few years as a food truck, they now have their own store front.  They’re known for their funky decorated donuts and large variety of flavors (sometimes including bacon donuts and Fruity Pebble donuts).  Next time you’re going to brunch, volunteer to bring the donuts!
